Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) recently said his government is ready to spend Rs 80,000 crore to Rs 1 lakh crore for Dalit Bandhu, touted as the country’s biggest direct benefit transfer scheme, to empower Dalits across the state.
KCR’s decision to first implement Dalit Bandhu on a pilot basis in Huzurabad Assembly Constituency, which is due for bye-elections, has drawn widespread criticism from the Opposition, which senses a poll stunt.
Opposition demanded the state wide implementation of the scheme. siting it a poll stunt congress former chairmen uttam kumar reddy said that this government has cheated dalits all the time, where are the 3 acres free land for dalits? he asked. he said the kcr promise is only for huzurabad by-poll stunt, after that he will forget this issue and will get back to the farm house.
All opposition parties in telangana are demanding of state wide implementation of the scheme. `why only huzurabad is getting fund of the dalit bandhu scheme and others why not? opposition parties raised the issue.
if it is only a poll stunt done by the government, then the party shall lose the power in the state, as dalit communities are against the government. if this scheme is really implemented through out the state then it will be tremendous step for the development of the dalit community.
