`THE FIRST BREATH` IN INDEPENDENT INDIA(THE INDEPENDENT INDIA MORNING)

15th August 1947, the day when India became independent after 200 years of British rule. The day when the Indians took breath in the air  of independent India. 200 years of suppression was about to end.The farmers where free from giving the compensation called `LAGAAN. The mother land was free from the dictators.

On the night of 14th Aug Jawaharlal Nehru was preparing his speech ~`TRYST WITH DESTINY` to address it to the Nation on the eve of Independence. At that time he received a call from Lahore and was informed about the situation at the Lahore. The supply of water was cut, small children where dying due to  lack of water supply. The situation was grim. Nehru rubbed his face and turned at is daughter and said how would I can deliver this speech as I Know my piece of heart is burning. It was the pain of partition which the     Lahore was witnessing.

At one side there was a joy of independence and at other side there was a pain of partition which Nehru was witnessing. At late night he arrived at parliament to deliver his speech. he entered central hall of the parliament and started his speech ~ TRYST WITH DESTINY` `` AT STROKE OF THE MID NIGHT HOUR WHEN THE WORLD SLEEPS, INDIA WILL WAKE TO HIS LFE AND FREEDOM. A MOMENT COMES, WHICH COMES BUT RARELY IN HISTORY, WHEN WE STEP OUT FROM OLD TO THE NEW, WHEN AN AGE ENDS AND WHEN THE SOUL OF A NATION LONG SUPPRESSED, FINDS UTTERANCE`....he said

The slogans like Mahatma Gandhi ki jai, Jawaharlal Nehru ki jai where raised in the central hall after his speech.

The arrangement at Red fort  for the celebration was made only for 30,000 people, but at that day Red fort experienced 5 lakhs people. This was the first time when the capital city witnessed that much crowed. The last vice roy Mount Bayton was made governor general of the Independent India. He arrived at Red fort for celebration, but he could not come out from his buggie as the crowed was huge. he asked Jawaharlal Nehru to hoist the flag as he could not come to the stage. And for the first time the tricolor flag was hoisted at Red fort .

The headlines of the national and as well as international news papers where about the independence. The headline of the famous Indian news paper `Hindustan times` was `INDIPENDENT INDIA` THE BRITISH RULE ENDS`. The headline of international news paper THE NEW YORK TIMES` was `THE TWO INDIA`S EMERGED IN A WORLD`.

But Mk Gandhi who fought for the independence and who was known as the father of the nation was absent at the Red fort during the celebration. He was in Kolkata where the communal riots where at peak. he was present their to control the situation.

AS INDIA CELEBRATES IT`S`75 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE` IT SALUTES THE SACRIFICES OF THE FREEDOM FIGHTERS,SOLDIERS,AND THE PEOPLE OF INDIA WHO FOUGHT FOR INDEPENDENCE OF THE COUNTRY.
